EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGES (EYFS)

Abacus follows the Early Years Foundation Stages (EYFS). This is the statutory framework which covers learning and development from the day your child is born until the end of their first year at school. We ensure all our themes and play are based around the EYFS which helps to build a firm foundation for your child's academic, social and emotional development.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES OF EYFS

  1. A Unique Child

Every child is a unique child who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.

   2. Positive Relationships

Children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships

   3. Enabling Environment

Children learn and develop well in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs, and there is a strong partnership between practitioners, parents and carers.

   4. Learning and Development

Children learn and develop in different ways and at different rates. The framework covers the education and care of all children in early years provision, including children with special educational needs and disabilities.

WHAT WE OFFER

We offer the children a wide variety of learning experiences, tailored to each individual child. Our staff team observes and assesses all the children on an ongoing basis. This enables us to establish where each child is in their learning and development and then plan how to encourage each child to thrive.
As a result of this we can provide learning opportunities for each child to allow them to build on the knowledge they already have, thus building their confidence, and helping them to work at their own pace to develop further.
